‘Aftermaths: Revolution and Recovery’ took place on May 11th and 12th, 2012 at the University of Western Ontario and was organized by Kate Lawless, Claudie Massicotte, and Dru Farro, with help from Chris Langlois, Dock Currie, Jessica Reilly, Siobhan Watters, Will Samson, Andrew Kingston, and Andrew Grant — all students at the Centre for the Study of Theory and Criticism. From today’s Atlantic: “The first half of May has seen significant levels of violence in Yemen. On May 3, a drone strike killed 13 suspected militants in southern Yemen. On May 6, a drone strike killed Fahd al-Quso, one of the al-Qaeda operatives behind the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole. On May 10, another drone strike killed 8 more suspected militants.”

From today’s on the BBC: “Twin suicide car-bomb attacks have killed at least 55 people and wounded 372 in Damascus, Syrian officials say. The blasts happened near a military intelligence building during morning rush hour. State TV showed burnt cars and two deep craters in the road.”
